To be honest, wet basements are annoying for everyone. Whether your basement is fully finished or simply a storage room - no one wants water seeping in and causing damage. These East China homeowners used their basement for the latter - they stored old furniture and boxes of belongings, and only ventured downstairs to do the laundry once a week.
For years though, water was seeping into the basement at the joint where the floor and the walls meet. Sometimes they'd even find cardboard boxes sitting in a puddle of water. After years of dealing with this headache, they finally decided to contact HomeSpec to look into their options.
Our specialist recommended an interior drainage system to waterproof the basement. Since the water was entering around the perimeter of the basement, this system is the best option. It would collect the water before it seeps into the basement and direct it to the sump pump, which would then expel the water away from the home.
The homeowners are very happy with the results, and reported no leaks even after many heavy rains!
Wet basements are not fun for anyone - water can damage furniture and belongings stored downstairs, mold can grow and cause health problems, and homeowners can waste a lot time and money cleaning it up. If water is constantly seeping into a basement, it can eventually flood severely. A homeowner in Ecorse, Michigan dealt with a wet basement for many years, and after a serious flood finally decided to install a full waterproofing system.
After a thorough inspection and many conversations with the homeowner about his needs, the project manager proposed a solution. That solution included a perimeter drainage system, sump pump, and vapor barrier.
The drainage system + sump pump is integral to waterproof a basement. They prevent water from flooding into the basement by collecting it first then funneling it away from the home. The vapor barrier prevents moisture and water vapor from entering through the walls, and instead directs it down to the drain. It also covers the unsightly stain on the concrete wall.
The homeowner is very satisficed with his newly dry basement, and he's thankful he doesn't have to stress about it anymore.
HomeSpec was contacted by a soon-to-be new homeowner who was concerned about foundation issues with the house he wanted to buy. Our team found that the basement walls were leaning inward, and water was getting into the basement.
I-beams were placed on the walls to stabilize them, and an interior drainage system was installed.
Beams were installed to stabilize basement walls that were cracked.
This homeowner contacted us because her poured concrete walls were cracked and leaking water into her basement.
Our crew solved her problem by first repairing the cracks with our polyurethane sealant. Then we covered the walls with our CleanSpace vapor barrier to protect against moisture. Finally, we installed an interior drainage system around the perimeter to collect the water and drain it away from the foundation.
The homeowner was later able to finish her basement, and easily install carpet and drywall over the system!
Like many people, these homeowners were plagued by a wet, humid basement. They had leaking cracks and rod holes that needed repairing as well. Many belongings were stored in their basement so they needed a reliable, permanent solution to fix their problem. That's where HomeSpec came in to save the day!
The WaterGuard perimeter drainage system was installed to waterproof the basement. This was connected to a brand new TripleSafe sump pump since the one they had was quite outdated. Then a SaniDry XP dehumidifier was installed to keep the relative humidity at a healthy 55%. The homeowners also wanted a CleanSpace vapor barrier installed over the walls after the cracks and rod holes were sealed. This blocks humidity and water vapor from entering the basement.
HomeSpec gave this basement the ultimate protection from water issues, and the homeowners are very pleased that no water has leaked into their basement since!
A stabilization system was installed on the walls of the basement. Our crew also installed an interior drainage system.
This sump pump discharge line was extended a whopping 18 feet to connect to the storm basin! The interior drainage system collects water coming into the basement and deposits it into the sump pump, which then pumps the water away from the home through the discharge line. By burying the discharge line, it elmininates unsighlty pipes and tripping hazards.
These new homeowners had a big obstacle to overcome as soon as they bought their beautiful new home - the damaged foundation. The block basement walls were bowing inward and severely cracked, which was letting water in as well. The floors above were sagging due to the lack of support in the basement. It was a big project, but HomeSpec was ready to take it on!
Our professionals designed a custom solution for this basement. Our crew installed our PowerBrace and CarbonArmor Wall Stabilization Systems to repair the walls and potentially even straighten them over time. The cracks were then sealed to waterproof the block walls. Support posts were installed to raise the floors and prevent them from sagging again in the future.
