Romulus, MI Basement Gets Waterproofing Makeover Romulus, MI Basement Gets Waterproofing Makeover

A homeowner in Romulus, Michigan contacted HomeSpec after buying a home with apparent water damage in the basement. The walls were water damaged and stained severely because water was seeping in at the base of the wall.

HomeSpec tackled this issue by installing a vapor barrier over the bottom of the wall to hide the unsightly stains and to direct the water leaking in down into a WaterGuard Perimeter Drainage System. This system collects the water and deposits it into the TripleSafe Sump Pump to be funneled away from the foundation. All three of these work together seamlessly to keep the basement dry and looking great!

Job Stories From Romulus, MI
Sloping Foundation and Flooding Basement Solved with Helical Piers and WaterGuard in Romulus, MI

A homeowner in Romulus, MI who had noticed their foundation cracking and showing signs of sloping to one side was concerned about the structural integrity of their home and knew that they needed to address the problem as soon as possible. After consulting friends and family, they came across HomeSpec BasementFix as the best fit for this project.

Upon arriving at the home, our experienced Project Manager conducted a thorough inspection of the foundation and identified the areas that were in need of repair. He noted the foundation was not only cracked and sloping, but there was also water seeping into the basement causing excess damage to the home. To address the issue of the cracked and sloping foundation, he recommended the Helical Pier Support System and the PowerBrace Wall Support System. He also recommended the WaterGuard Drainage system to solve the issue of water seeping into the basement.

The Helical Pier Support System consists of helical plates that are welded to steel beams which are then screwed into the ground using a hydraulic motor. The piers are designed to reach stable soil layers, providing a solid foundation for the home. Our crew would begin the installation process by drilling holes in the foundation and then screwing the piers into the ground. The piers were then tightened using a hydraulic jack, which helped to level and stabilize the foundation. Next, our crew would install the WaterGuard Drainage System, this system consists of a perimeter drainage channel that is installed along the foundation walls, a SuperSump Sump Pump to pump water out of the basement, and a discharge line to direct the water away from the home. Our crew started by digging a trench around the perimeter of the foundation, and then installing the drainage channel. They connected the channel to the SuperSump sump pump, which was also installed in the basement and then a discharge line was run from the sump pump to the exterior of the home to direct water away from the foundation. Finally, our crew would install the PowerBrace Wall Support System. This support system consists of steel beams that are attached to the walls of the basement using a series of brackets and anchors. The beams are then tightened, which applies pressure to the walls and helps to straighten them. Our crew installed the PowerBrace system along the entire length of the basement walls, tightening the beams as needed to straighten the walls. These three systems work together to provide a comprehensive solution to foundation problems and basement waterproofing that is designed to keep the home safe and dry for years to come.

Once all of the work was completed, the homeowner was more than satisfied with the results. The foundation was now level and stable, and there was no longer water seeping into the basement causing them unnecessary trouble. The basement walls were also straightened and secure. The homeowner was now able to retain their peace of mind knowing that their home was safe from future foundation related problems.

Returning Homeowner in Romulus, MI Gets Their Sagging Floors Fixed with The SmartJack Support System

Uneven floors often compound into many problems within a home; aside from the uncomfortable living conditions, it spells a greater problem with the support systems located in the crawl space. This homeowner in Romulus, MI was beginning to experience these side effects when they noticed how some of the floors in the home were no longer able to reliably support the weight of some furniture. Having had basement waterproofing done by HomeSpec BasementFix on their other property, this homeowner reached out to provide a solution that would fit their needs.

Mark, who previously had done work on their other property, was specifically asked for on this project due to his related experience in basement repair services. After discussing the probable causes of the sinking floors, Mark recommended the support posts in the crawl space be replaced with our SmartJack Support System.

The support posts that stabilize the floors in your home, among other things, greatly affect how the home feels. When the support posts are improperly spaced, or fail, due to woodrot, pest damage etc.. it can cause the floors above to sink. SmartJack solves this by introducing corrosion-resistant steel beams that are capable of supporting loads of up to 60,000 lbs. Which works perfectly for this homeowner. The SmartJack Support System is adjustable year-round to provide easy access to accommodate the needs of the home whenever they arise. After the support jacks were installed on a base of engineered fill to prevent them from sinking, this homeowner immediately noticed the difference in their floors and was satisfied with the crews work.

With Mark successfully restoring this homeowners peace of mind, and restoring the floors back to their original condition, he was glad to have helped them on another one of their projects and happy to hear the homeowner was ready to recommend HomeSpec BasementFix to any friends in need of basement repair services.

Interior Drainage System Installed in Romulus, MI

This homeowner contacted HomeSpec because water was seeping into his basement where the floor and the wall meet. This is a very common problem.

Our crew waterproofed the basement by installing an interior drainage system--this collects any water and directs it to the sump pump, which then pumps it away from your basement.

Egress Window Installed in Romulus, MI

These homeowner contacted HomeSpec because their window well was leaking into the basement and wanted an egress window installed instead. She also needed a sump pump battery backup. The wife was pregnant and was anxious about having a wet basement with a baby coming.
