A homeowner in Holland, OH who had a beautiful house with a finished basement was getting increasingly frustrated when it rained noticed a significant amount of water seeping into the basement, which was causing them a great deal of frustration and concern. They tried to solve the problem themselves by sealing the cracks in the basement walls and installing a sump pump, but nothing seemed to work. The water continued to seep in, and the problem persisted. After trying multiple times they finally decided to reach out to a professional for help. That's when they reached out to us for help.  On the day our Project Manager arrived,  he began by inspecting the basement thoroughly and consulting the homeowner on the work they had previously done. After he completed the inspection, he had identified the root cause of the problem: a lack of proper drainage. Our Project Manager explained to the homeowner that water was seeping in through the basement walls and collecting on the floor because there was no proper drainage system to redirect the water away from the foundation. Our Project Manager recommended the homeowner install a WaterGuard drainage system in their basement, which would effectively capture any water seeping in and direct it to the sump pump for removal. The Project Manager explained that the WaterGuard system was designed to be installed along the perimeter of the basement floor, and it was made to be out of sight so that it wouldn't affect the basement's appearance. The homeowner was hesitant at first, they were worried about the cost of such a system, but our Project Manager explained that the WaterGuard system was affordable and came with a lifetime warranty. After hearing the benefits and agreeing that it was an investment into the house, they decided to go ahead with the installation, they wanted to have a dry and usable basement without the worry of water damaging the basement any further. The installation process was quick. Our crew began by digging a shallow trench around the perimeter of the basement floor and installing the WaterGuard system. The WaterGuard sits on the foundation footing, preventing it from clogging in the future.Then it was connected to the homeowners existing sump pump, and our crew tested it to make sure it was working correctly. After the installation was complete, they had noticed a significant improvement in the basement's condition. They no longer experienced any leaks or water seepage, even during heavy rainstorms. They were thrilled that they could now use the basement without any worries, and would recommend the WaterGuard system to all their friends and family.

This crawl space experienced a lot of water issues which led to problems like mold, musty smells, a muddy floor, and damaged insulation. The homeowners dealt with this problem for years, and finally it flooded so bad that both of their old sump pumps died. They already had to tear out their vapor barrier because of damage from previous flooding. It was obvious that these homeowners needed a permanent solution.  Thankfully, they called HomeSpec. After an inspection, their project manager designed a custom solution to defeat this wet crawl space. The answer was to install a perimeter drainage system that connects to two new sump pumps, and then encapsulate the entire crawl space. With our powerful sump pumps able to discharge thousands of gallons of water an hour, and a vapor barrier preventing moisture from entering, the crawl space is now completely waterproofed. These homeowners are so happy that they don't have to worry about it anymore! It's now out of sight, and out of mind. 

These homeowners were suffering from a typical wet crawl space - a musty smell protruded from below the home, and the mold that resulted from the high-humidity was causing health concerns. There was almost always puddles of water in the crawl space, and the ground was always muddy.  HomeSpec solved this problem by waterproofing and encapsulating the crawl space after treating the mold. A drainage system was installed and connected to a sump pump to control the water and prevent flooding. A powerful dehumidifier was installed to control the moisture in the air. An Ottawa Lake, MI homeowner was getting frustrated with water getting into their partially finished basement. The water did not seem to be coming from the walls or the current sump pump but from the floor. It was getting increasingly worse and soaking the carpet. The homeowner did not want mold to grow or for their personal belongings to get destroyed by water damage. They called HomeSpec Waterproofing and Foundation Repair for a free estimate. One of HomeSpec’s senior project managers, Erik, performed an inspection of the basement. After discussing with the homeowner, Erik suggested installing an interior drainage system using WaterGuard® and a new sump discharge. The WaterGuard® interior drainage system would capture water entering at the floor and drain to the sump pump which would then discharge to the ditch outside of the home. The homeowner agreed to this plan and scheduled HomeSpec’s crews to execute this project. First, the carpet had to be moved away from the perimeter and plumbing concerns had to be addressed by Rick. Afterward, another crew installed the interior drainage system around the edges of the basement and the sump discharge. The homeowner was happy with the final results and knew their home would be dry for years to come.
