You walk into your house and smell a musty odor. You walk into another room. There it is. Another room. There, too.
If you notice a musty smell in your home, the crawl space could be the culprit.
Why would the crawl space smell musty?
If there is water or moisture in the crawl space, it can lead to mold and mildew. That will cause a musty smell that is carried into your living space.
What can be done to get rid of this odor?
Simply covering up the smell won't adequately solve your problem. As long as there is moisture in the crawl space, there is the chance of mold and mildew, so the problem needs to be tackled at the source.
Waterproofing the crawl space with a moisture barrier will ensure it stays clean and dry. Depending on your situation, an interior drainage system may be needed. Also, a dehumidifier could be installed to control moisture levels.
