Foundation Repair Photo Album: Waterproofing and Foundation Repair Protect Richmond, MI Home's Integrity
A homeowner in Richmond, MI, originally reached out to HomeSpec Waterproofing and Foundation Repair for help with water coming into the basement where the floor meets the wall. They were using the basement as a storage space and wanted to protect both the home and their belongings. One of HomeSpec’s project managers visited the home to assess the condition. Unfortunately, it was worse than the homeowner anticipated.
While analyzing the basement for water leakage, the project manager also noted the extensive cracks and voids in the foundation walls. While preventing water from entering the basement was still a priority, the project manager emphasized the importance of stabilizing the foundation. If the walls continued to shift, water could continue to invade. Not only this, but the more walls continue to shift, the risk increases that they could collapse.
The project manager recommended installing a combination of the CarbonArmor® Wall Reinforcing System and the PowerBrace™ Wall Repair System to secure the walls. They also proposed installing a WaterGuard® interior drainage system that would connect to a TripleSafe™ Sump Pump. The final part of the repair plan would be to install CleanSpace®, a mold-resistant vapor barrier. This combination would protect the walls and floor from further water damage by capturing the water and discharging it away from the home. The homeowner agreed to this full coverage plan and scheduled a HomeSpec crew to see it to completion. They were happy with the finished results, a dry, stable, and usable basement.
Cracked Foundation Walls and Water Intrusion
A homeowner contacted HomeSpec Waterproofing and Foundation Repair for help regarding water entering the basement where the wall meets the floor. When the project manager arrived for the inspection, they discovered multiple cracks throughout the foundation.
Beginning of Waterproofing and Foundation Repair Installation
The first step in securing these foundation walls was to install CarbonArmor® Wall Reinforcing System, the black straps. The CarbonArmor® is sealed in the same channel as the WaterGuard® interior drainage system being installed in the floor.
CleanSpace® Vapor Barrier Installed Over CarbonArmor® Wall Reinforcing System
After the CarbonArmor® Wall Reinforcing System is installed, then the CleanSpace® Vapor Barrier can be applied on top. This also gets secured with the WaterGuard® interior drainage system in the floor. Stone and plastic protect the IDS system from the concrete that will be applied at the end.
PowerBrace™ Wall Repair System Installed as WaterGuard® IDS is Finalized
For the walls that need more stabilization, the PowerBrace™ Wall Repair System is installed. These beams lay on top of the CleanSpace® Vapor Barrier and are secured with the concrete that completes the WaterGuard® interior drainage system. The final result is a clean, dry, and stable basement.
