Couple Waterproofs Basement in Maybee, MI After Flood Ruins Irreplaceable Items
Do you know the heartbreak of losing items that cannot be replaced? Or perhaps the dread of having water leaks in the basement? If so, then you can relate to these homeowners. Their basement had a sump pump installed at the high point of the basement; unfortunately, water was still getting in through the middle. It eventually led to them facing a flooded basement and they had to throw away some of their things due to water damage. One of their solutions was to put their items on pallets to keep them off the wet floor. However, this did not stop the water from getting into the basement. They decided to reach out to HomeSpec Waterproofing and Foundation Repair to explore options.
One of HomeSpec’s project managers, Elon, went out to the home to provide a free inspection for the homeowners. He investigated the basement and surroundings of the house to get a full understanding of this particular home’s situation. He then proposed a plan to waterproof the basement. He suggested installing an interior drainage system using WaterGuard® French drains and connecting that system to a new, stronger sump pump. The sump pump would be connected to a new sump discharge and a SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier to ensure all collected moisture was properly dispersed away from the home. Finally, Elon suggested installing CleanSpace®, a mold-resistant vapor barrier, along the basement walls.
The homeowners agreed to move forward with all of these suggestions and ensure their home was thoroughly waterproofed. They did not want to have any worries for the remainder of their time living in this home. A foreman named Vernon led a team in the process of installing the interior drainage system, sump pump, external discharge line, dehumidifier, and vapor barrier. Another HomeSpec team member, Marshall, handled any plumbing duties associated with this project. The homeowners were happy with the final results!
