Basement Waterproofing Before & After Photos

Not all homes are going to be cookie-cutter rectangles. Some basements, like this one in Warren, MI have a plethora of angles that are all equally important to have waterproofed. Luckily, this homeowner called HomeSpec Waterproofing & Foundation Repair who is always up to the task.

The inspector, Elon, did a walkthrough of the home, discussed issues, and went over goals with the homeowner. Together, they decided that the best course would be to waterproof the walls and floors. This included an interior drainage system made of WaterGuard®, the TripleSafe™ Sump Pump System, a sump pump discharge that has freeze protection, a wall vapor barrier using CleanSpace®, and ThermalDry® Elite Plank Flooring. An unfinished basement in Sterling Heights, MI began leaking through cracks in the walls. The homeowner feared that things would get far worse if it went unaddressed. With no plans of moving, they intended to finish the basement and make it a safe place for their kids to play. They reached out to HomeSpec Waterproofing and Foundation Repair for a free estimate on the cost of fixing their basement. 

Jeremiah, one of HomeSpec’s senior project managers, went out to the home. He met with the owner and talked about what they had noticed before being shown the basement. Jeremiah took measurements throughout the area and noted where water was intruding. After careful evaluation, he went to speak with the homeowner again and proposed a solution. While the basement did have an existing discharge, it did not have a WaterGuard® interior drainage system, an UltraSump® Battery Backup System, or a CleanSpace® vapor barrier. Jeremiah shared information about how these waterproofing products could protect the basement from further water damage. The homeowner approved of these recommendations and had them installed by a HomeSpec crew!

A Sterling Heights, MI homeowner noticed multiple leaks throughout their unfinished basement. While there were no visible cracks, it was clear that water intrusion was still occurring. The homeowner agreed to install a new sump pump which would connect to an interior drainage system using WaterGuard® French drains. Additionally, CleanSpace® wall vapor barrier would be installed to protect the walls and the electrical box. A team led by Brandon completed these projects aside from the plumbing which was done by Rick. The homeowner approved of their work and was happy with the final results.

The WaterGuard perimeter drainage system was installed to waterproof the basement. This was connected to a brand new TripleSafe sump pump since the one they had was quite outdated. Then a SaniDry XP dehumidifier was installed to keep the relative humidity at a healthy 55%. The homeowners also wanted a CleanSpace vapor barrier installed over the walls after the cracks and rod holes were sealed. This blocks humidity and water vapor from entering the basement.

HomeSpec gave this basement the ultimate protection from water issues, and the homeowners are very pleased that no water has leaked into their basement since!
